Chevrolet has announced that the new Corvette ZR1X has become the fastest American car to complete a lap on the demanding Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
The supercar recorded a lap time of 6:49.275, even surpassing the performance of the newly unveiled ZR1 (6:50.763) and the Z06 (7:11.826). All models were driven by the manufacturer’s own drivers, reinforcing the technical dominance of the brand’s development team.
With engines reaching up to 1250 horsepower, the tested models retain production specifications targeted at the U.S. market, although they received specific safety modifications required by the track, such as racing seats and roll cages. Still, since they are not sold in Europe, they were classified as prototypes. Nevertheless, their times place them among the fastest in Nürburgring history, ahead of competitors like the Ford Mustang GTD.
The achievement marks another milestone in Chevrolet’s history on international tracks, showing that the Corvette line continues to evolve. However, the team does not consider the challenge complete. According to the brand’s engineers, there are plans to keep improving the ZR1 family’s performance, indicating that new records may be on the horizon.
